Maserati Levante Revealed At The Geneva Motor Show

The Italian car maker chose the 2016 Geneva Motor Show for one of the biggest reveals in company history. Maserati is showing the Levante. Its the first SUV in the hundred-year history of the luxury sports car maker, making it a truly remarkable showcase for the average car nut.

As with many Maseratis from the past, the new car’s name is inspired by a wind: the Levante is a warm Mediterranean wind that can change from a light breeze to an irresistible natural force in an instant, mirroring the character of the first Maserati SUV. With so many models from Italy and their respective car makers, we are pleased to see another rather interesting name headed for – what can objectively be called – one of the best looking vehicles in its segment available on the market.

Maserati Granturismo With PUR Wheels

Maserati Granturismo With PUR Wheels

Whether you’ll agree on this with me or not; the Maserati Granturismo is one of the best sounding cars out there today. You won’t be able to hear such an engine extravaganza going forward. It’s all about rad eco friendly machines. It’s all about keeping nice with the trees and animals now. The growl of a naturally aspirated V8 engine like this we’ll only be able to mention in a nostalgia filled conversations with our kids and gran kids some day. So, bask in it. Enjoy it as much as you can.

The standard version of the Maserati Granturismo has a 4.2l V8 engine designed and developed in conjunction with Ferrari. It produces 405 PS (298 kW; 399 hp) and it is mated to an automatic ZF gearbox six-speed transmission. The car is a GT (Grand Tourer) that emphasizes comfort in harmony with speed and driver-enjoyment. The vehicle can sprint from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in 5.0 seconds, making it a rather fast and seriously impressive sounding Gran Tourer then.

The vehicle features sleek and elegant exterior lines, dominated by the rather interesting looking Maserati logo in the front and perfectly shaped fender flares.

This Maserati Ghibli comes equipped with a set of ADV5.2 M.V2 Super Light Series wheels and a complete Wald kit installed. The wheels add a bit of an aggressive flavor, while the Walkd bodykit further emphasizes the beefed up lines of this sports sedan. The complete build was done by R1 Motorsport. On the eve of its 100-year anniversary, Maserati is in the strongest position of its lifetime with two brand new sport-sedans, state-of-the- art production facilities and all-time record breaking sales numbers.

An unprecedented future for Maserati is being thrust by the all-new mid-size Ghibli, which drove a 319% sales increase for Maserati over the same month last year, with 910 Maserati’s retailed in November 2013. Behind this performance, every significant sales record maintained by Maserati has been broken.

“A new era of accessibility with iconic Maserati pedigree is here as the mid-size Ghibli, starting at $65,600 is no longer a plan of ours, but a proud purchase by many” commented Peter Grady, President and CEO of Maserati North America, Inc. “We welcome a new generation of Maserati owners who are as inspired as we are by this ‘The Absolute Opposite of Ordinary’ car.”

Italian design and premium materials inside and out define the coupé-like Ghibli, a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine built by Ferrari producing up to 404 HP, propels it. The Ghibli accelerates from a standstill to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 176 MPH (S Q4). While recently, The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety named the 2014 Maserati Ghibli a Top Safety Pick after the all-new Italian sport sedan achieved the highest-possible score in each of four tests.

Meanwhile, the full-size Quattroporte sedan available with over 500 HP in GTS trim, or with advanced S Q4 All-Wheel-Drive continued its unprecedented growth, contributing mightily to the record month of sales. Continuing its expansion, the Maserati dealer network has reached 78 across North America and the brand has taken aim at 100 as another milestone of growth, and class leading customer care.
