The Ferrari Roma is a new mid-front-engined 2+ coupé By The Italian Car Maker
For the most part, November is not the most exciting motoring month of the year. Sure, you have the SEMA Show, but that’s more dedicated to the automotive aftermarket industry than to regular cars. However, as a rather compelling argument on making this dreary month look a lot brighter, Ferrari surprised us with a rather interesting new vehicle, revealed during a dedicated client event held in Italy’s iconic capital. Dubbed the “Ferrari Roma,” this new mid-front-engined 2+ coupé features refined proportions and timeless design combined with unparalleled performance and handling.
The vehicle showcases iconic Italian design, giving us one of the classiest coupe’s we’ve seen in a long time. Furthermore, Ferrari touts how it represents the pinnacle of performance in its category, thanks to its turbocharged V8 engine, derived from the family of engines that has won the overall International Engine of the Year award four years running. In this version, the engine reaches 620 horsepower at 7500 RPM and 760 Nm of torque at ranges between the low 3000 – 5750 RPM’s. Furthermore, the engine is coupled with a new 8-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) gearbox, introduced on the SF90 Stradale, which allows the Ferrari Roma some blisteringly fast gear changes.
The Ferrari Roma will sprint from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in just 3.6 seconds. Additionally, it will accelerate all the way up to an impressive top speed of 320km/h. Moreso, the Roma, thanks to its lightweight chassis, it will afford the owner with some impressive driving dynamics. After all, the vehicle weighs in at just 1472 kilograms. And finally, thanks to its breathtaking design, impressive interior, and fine build quality, it will garner the prying eyes of bystanders anywhere it goes.
With its distinctive flair and style, the car is a contemporary representation of the carefree, pleasurable way of life that characterized Rome in the 1950s and ‘60s. The Ferrari Roma offers discerning clients the finesse and refinement that brings the concept of “la Dolce Vita” right up to date. And you can almost imagine a young couple, sunglasses and scarf, leather gloves and comfy sweaters included, driving this beautiful vehicle on some Italian back roads.
